Each year, the Core Skills Income Threshold (CSIT) and the Specialist Skills Income Threshold (SSIT) are indexed in line with Average Weekly Ordinary Time Earnings (AWOTE) to support fair and consistent remuneration for Subclass 482 and Subclass 494 visa holders.
These thresholds operate alongside the Annual Market Salary Rate (AMSR) requirement. Sponsors must pay at least the applicable income threshold, in addition to meeting market salary requirements.
What are the new thresholds from 1 July 2026?
From 1 July 2026:
- CSIT will increase from $76,515 to $79,499.
- SSIT will increase from $141,210 to 146,717.
When do the new thresholds apply?
The updated thresholds will apply to all visa applications lodged on or after 1 July 2026. Applications submitted prior to this date will continue to be assessed against the 2025–26 thresholds, even if they are finalised after 1 July 2026.
Key Actions for Employers
Employers should review salaries for Subclass 482 and 494 nominations to ensure compliance with the new thresholds and the AMSR. Where possible, lodge ready nominations before 1 July 2026 to retain the current threshold of $76,515 (CSIT) or $141,210 (SSIT). Applications lodged after this date must meet the new increased minimum thresholds.
